Why Scouting America

Some young adults avoid obstacles. Scouts overcome them. They live to display their abilities while learning new skills.

Scout BSA is a year-round program for children in the fifth grade through high school that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility to help them become the best person they can be.

In Scouting, young adults go places, test themselves, and have one-of-a-kind adventures that can’t be found anywhere else.

Scouting is designed to be experienced outdoors. Hiking, camping, mountain biking, skateboarding, BMX, mountain climbing, kayaking, whitewater rafting—all of these and more are among those experiences. There is something for everyone in Scouting!
